What will it be … field mice or antelope?

A lion is fully capable of capturing, killing and eating a field mouse. But it turns out that the energy required to do so exceeds the caloric content of the mouse itself. So a lion that spends its day hunting and eating field mice would slowly starve to death. A lion can’t live on field mice. A lion needs antelope. The distinction is important. Are you spending all your time and exhausting all your energy catching field mice? In the short term it might give you a nice, rewarding feeling. But in the long run you’re going to be awfully hungry.

Here be dragons

Medieval mapmakers labeled the edges of the known world with pictures like this, along with the phrase“Here be dragons.” These markings let the maps’ readers know that the regions were unexplored and might hold terrors.

The Answer is Yes
But First You Have to Ask

This book will help you enrich your life by asking for more of what you want. It will help you acquire and polish your asking and listening skills so you can derive maximum benefits in the workplace, in relationships, at home and everywhere in-between.

It doesn’t look like this is going to be a very comfortable ride.

How comfortable are you when it comes to asking for what you want?

The easiest and most often ignored way to improve the quality your life is to acquire and polish your asking skills. Asking is one of the most underutilized yet effective tools in our tool bag. Its benefits are limited only by your wants, needs, and imagination. Of course, it’s doubtful that you’ll always get what you ask for. But as hockey great Wayne Gretzky implies in his famous quote, you will certainly never get what you don’t ask for.

If asking is something you haven’t tried, make overcoming any objections a primary goal. You will be impressed by the future quality of your life as a result. And who knows—you might even experience a much more pleasant ride along the way.

Why are you reluctant to ask?

  1. You don’t think of it.
  2. You lack the confidence.
  3. You fear the answer.
  4. You don’t want to sound foolish.
  5. Our upbringing taught us not to ask.

“The Answer is YES, But First You Have to Ask” Workshop shows you how to overcome your reluctance and become more comfortable asking: for money, a discount, a job, directions, a hug, feedback, help, a better___, a booth instead of that table, meetings that end on time, a promotion, more vacation time, singing lessons.

Remember this: You’ll ALWAYS miss all the shots that you don’t take!
